To make AAC weather resistant – AAC being porous – requires an applied finish such as a polymer-modified stucco, stone or other siding. AAC combines insulation and structural capability in one material for walls, floors and roofs. The light weight/cellular properties make it easy to cut and shape, accept nails and screws, and be easily routed for electrical and plumbing conduits.

Building with Hebel™ AAC factory manufactured components, requires using fine silica sand, cement, lime and water, to which is added an aluminum powder as the expansion agent causing the mixture to rise until it contains 80% air. It is then baked for about 8 hours before being cut into precisely dimensioned units of panels, blocks, lintels etc. The cured units are joined with thin-bed mortar and can be used for walls, floors and roofs.
The lightweight material offers excellent sound and thermal insulation, is strong and virtually fire-proof as it will neither burn nor give off toxic fumes.
